NEW MOON IN SAGITTARIUS – Time to step out of your comfort zone (November 22, 2014)

Astrology-New-Moon-Full-MoonIn the Pacific Time Zone, the New Moon will occur at 4:32 a.m. on Saturday, November 22. This New Moon finds the Moon and Sun in conjunction (0°) at 1° of Sagittarius. To further clarify how this New Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 1° of Sagittarius in your birth/natal chart. The issues associated with that house are going to be most influenced by this New Moon’s presence.

All New Moons are times when we can have new starts and set new intentions in the areas related to the sign involved. This New Moon in Sagittarius occurs on the same day (Saturday, November 22) that the Sun moves out of emotional Scorpio and into fiery Sagittarius. This means a lot of powerful new Sagittarian energy! This is a mutable fire sign, which means there will be forward motion (fire) but that motion could change direction and be rather unpredictable (mutable). We are definitely looking forward into the future and not backward into the past!

Sag is all about enthusiasm, exploration, and adventure. We are being asked to look at things from a different angle now. Changes in perception can shed new light on old problems. This can sometimes bring into question our most basic beliefs, which can feel unsettling at times. This is an important time to discern between what we have been taught to believe and what is true for us. It takes courage to question what we have always thought to be true, but growth often requires movement out of our comfort zone.

The sign of Sagittarius is often associated with travel and learning new things. Traveling to new locations exposes us to new ways of viewing and understanding the world around us. However, we don’t need to go on a long trip or even leave our home. Taking a walk in a new area, reading a book about a topic that is unfamiliar to us, or watching a foreign movie might be all we need to shake up our present reality and see new options for the future. The entire month will likely provide many of us with opportunities to expand our horizons.

Whenever Sagittarius energy is involved, the questions we ask ourselves are big ones: “What is the meaning of life?”, “What is my role in it?”, “Why am I here?”, “Where did I come from?”, and/or “Where am I going?” These questions are perhaps more likely than usual with this New Moon in Sagittarius because the New Moon is squaring (90°) Neptune in Pisces. Both the planet Neptune and the sign Pisces connect us to our spirituality in powerful ways. It means that the veil between the two worlds will be thinner now than usual, which will increase our intuition, creativity, and compassion. This is a good time to question any beliefs that do not support our Oneness with each other and with God/Source/Spirit/The Divine.

Venus in Sagittarius is conjunct (0°) this New Moon, which means it is a good time to pursue whatever brings you pleasure. We likely will feel emotional and even sentimental. However, later that same day (Saturday, November 22), a square (90°) between Mercury and Jupiter could mean that our judgment is not at its best. Although we are being supported now in exploring new options and seeing beyond present constraints, we also need to make sure that we don’t speak too bluntly, expect too much, or overlook important details. Spend the day enjoying life, and wait until you have a solid foundation in place before moving forward on new ideas.

Back on Sunday, November 16, Neptune stopped its backward motion and began to move direct again. Over the next few weeks, we will likely begin to feel ready to take action on our dreams. Then on Sunday, November 23, Chiron will begin moving forward again. This may bring out into the public arena those areas of our lives that we’ve been healing privately for the past few months. Both of these shifts in direction could correspond with important insights. Pay attention to subtle shifts, such as feeling more at peace with your past or an increased understanding of life and our purpose on the Earth plane.

A conjunction (0°) between Mercury and Saturn on Tuesday, November 25, will help us slow down our mental processes and put on our thinking caps. We are being provided with support in exploring the facts so we can clearly understand them. Any forms of communication will be taken very seriously today, and we will want our words to accurately reflect what we are thinking.

The next day (Wednesday, November 26), a free-flowing trine (120°) between Venus and Uranus will cause us to crave freedom. We may find ourselves more able than usual to objectively explore our immediate surroundings, relationships, and finances. Due to our increased emotional detachment, we may be willing to make changes that will bring us more of what we desire and enjoy. However, later that same day, the Sun squares (90°) Neptune, which brings increased faith and compassion (for self and others). However, it might leave some people with their heads too far up in the clouds, which could result in making unwise plans that seemed brilliant at the time. Use this time to enjoy increased intuition but don’t act until the Neptunian fog lifts.

On Saturday, November 29, Mercury shifts out of passionate Scorpio and into optimistic Sagittarius, where it will remain until December 18. Our thoughts now will become even more focused on our vision of the future. Our mind can, however, see more of the forest than the trees, which means we may miss important details. Our verbal interactions can also become a bit too honest and blunt. Overall, our minds are ready to break free from present constraints and explore new horizons, which can bring new energy into our lives. For some of us, it may feel like we are finally waking up to the truth regarding an important issue in our lives.

Sunday, November 30, sees Mercury squaring (90°) Neptune. This could blur the lines of reality and cause our minds to wander far beyond our present circumstances. This isn’t a good day for working with details, making plans, or formalizing agreements. However, today would be a great day for using our imagination and creativity.

The next day (Monday, December 1), sees a very mature sextile (60°) between Mars and Saturn. Sextiles are often referred to as gifts, but with sextiles we need to take the initiative to open the gift rather than wait to have it opened for us. So for those who take advantage of this aspect, we are being provided with the ideal integration between our ability to take action and to do so in an organized, patient manner. Our planning ability is enhanced, as is our willingness to handle large tasks with commitment and efficiency. Our sense of purpose and responsibility are enhanced, as well.

Overall, this New Moon in Sagittarius is asking us to be brave! Traveling to new lands or exploring new ideas sometimes takes courage. And due to the on-going squares (90°) between Uranus and Pluto (2012-2015), we are all having our basic foundational beliefs questioned. This New Moon, which happens just a few weeks before the sixth of the seven Uranus-Pluto squares is pushing us to start to define how we have changed during the past 2 years or so. It is a good time to be with like-minded others who are willing to ask the tough questions: “What is my mission in life?” and “Where do I need to take a leap of faith in order to move forward on my soul’s spiritual journey?” It may help to remember, “Life begins at the end of your comfort zone” (Neale Donald Walsch).
