NOTE:  This Moon Update will be very brief.  We are in the middle of revamping the website, so stay tuned!  Time is precious right now, but I did want to get you a little information about the upcoming Full Moon.

In the Pacific Time Zone, the Moon will be full at 5:29 a.m. on Thursday, August 15.  With this Full Moon, the Sun in Leo will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Aquarius.  To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 23° of Leo and 23° of Aquarius in your birth/natal chart.  The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.

As is true with all Full Moons, this one is asking us to explore whether we have a good balance between the two signs involved.  Aquarius is about individuality, humanitarianism, being responsible, and working in groups.  Leo is about feeling confident, being a leader, approaching everything with a loving heart, and expressing our unique gifts in the world.

There’s a lot of Leo energy involved in this Aquarius Full Moon because not only is the Sun in Leo, but so are Mercury, Venus, and Mars.  The Sun is actually conjunct (0°) Venus and Mars.  Leo may want to play and be creative, but Aquarius will always be whispering in our ear to do so in a responsible way.  And at the time of this Full Moon, Mercury is in a tight square (90°) to Uranus, which is the ruler of Aquarius.  This means we may have to change how we are thinking and talking about our creative endeavors, which will hopefully lead to a greater sense of independence and service.

Although the qualities of Aquarius and Leo seem diametrically opposed in many ways, they can work very well together.  For example, the Moon (which represents our emotions) in Aquarius is calling on us to find responsible ways to confidentially express our leadership (Leo) in global or humanitarian arenas (Aquarius).  We each come to the earth plane with unique gifts (Leo), and the Aquarian Full Moon provides us with a time to explore how we can use our gifts in a loving way to serve a higher, unifying purpose.  Doing so with others will be particularly rewarding due to the Aquarian love of groups.

Mercury, which is now moving direct, moved out of Cancer on Sunday, August 11, and back into Leo.  After an emotionally charged July, due to the eclipses and Mercury retrograde in Cancer, the middle part of August should feel much calmer.  But change is still afoot:  On the same day (August 11) that Mercury moved into Leo, Jupiter ended its annual retrograde phase and began moving direct again.  And if that wasn’t enough to make August 11 a banner astrological day, Uranus began its annual retrograde phase that same day.

In sum, Sunday, August 11, may have felt like a turning point in a good way.  After what could have felt like a period of roadblocks, we will very likely see some pretty big shifts in energy after August 11.  Whatever we’ve been thinking about or planning may begin to take form.  Or if something has been “up in the air,” we may begin to see resolution or completion.

Then in the latter part of August, there are 4 planets changing signs, with all 4 moving out of Leo and into Virgo:

  • Mars on Saturday, August 17, where it will remain until October 4.
  • Venus on Wednesday, August 21, where it will remain until September 14.
  • Sun on Friday, August 23, where it will remain until September 23.
  • Mercury on Thursday, August 29, where it will remain until September 14.

This is a large influx of earthy Virgo energy entering our lives!  Virgo’s energy is grounded, practical, precise, and efficient.  Compared to Leo, it is a much more peaceful, soft, and humble energy.  Even though there is change in the air, it is likely that things will slow down overall, and we will be given the time we need to analyze and organize whatever has been and is happening (and changing) in our lives.

Virgo is also a sign that is associated with physical health, so we may be making some changes to our lifestyle, exercise routine, or eating habits.  We may also feel a need for some “alone time” to sort through our feelings and thoughts.  However, being with like-minded others can still be very enjoyable.  These 4 planets will still be located in Virgo into September, so the energy will continue into the beginning of next month.

Overall, this Aquarian Full Moon mirrors the energy that will be present from mid-August through the first part of September.  It will likely feel much calmer, and we may begin to take steps toward those ideas that have been brewing over the summer.  The middle part of August is when we may see things coming together, and then toward the end of August (when so many planets move into Virgo), we’ll be analyzing the results of what has been happening.  We will then start to make additional changes to perfect (Virgo) the outcome.  Therefore, around the time of the Full Moon, we all should look for doors and windows to begin opening, and we should use the strong Leo energy present at this time to move confidently toward our goals, and perhaps move into leadership positions that we never thought we would fill.  Anything is possible!
