In the Pacific Time Zone, the Moon will be full at 11:35 a.m. on Saturday, August 29. With this Full Moon, the Sun in Virgo will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Pisces. To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 7° of Virgo and 7° of Pisces in your birth/natal chart. The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.
Full Moons always illuminate two opposite but complementary energies. With the Virgo-Pisces axis, we are being asked to use two very different ways of accessing information in order to determine what we know to be true for us. To fully benefit from the Full Moon’s potential, we cannot over-emphasize one end of the continuum while ignoring the needs of the other. Achieving a balance is our goal.
Virgo, which is an earth sign, is about logic, discernment, effort, duty/service, and information that comes from our five senses. Pisces, which is a water sign, is about imagination, acceptance, faith, and information that comes from insight or intuition. When these avenues for accessing information are combined, which is the goal of this Full Moon, we have the potential to receive information from all levels . . . both physical (Virgo) and spiritual (Pisces). Our view of reality can widen now, and we may see possibilities that we didn’t know existed. But to do this, we must be willing to use information that comes from all sources.
This Full Moon in Pisces is the first in a series of three SuperMoons, which is a term used when the Moon is closest in its approach to the Earth (perigee) and when the Moon is also in alignment with the Sun and Earth (syzygy). SuperMoons exert more gravitational and electromagnetic pull on the Earth’s surface than typical New or Full Moons. They increase the influence on the tides, the pulls on tectonic plates, and the pressure exerted on our physical and emotional bodies. Although intense, they can also result in larger than usual shifts in consciousness, so SuperMoons amp up the impact of the New or Full Moon.
A softer, more spiritual energy is starting to enter our lives that will influence us through October. During this time, we may feel quieter and gently pulled inward. We start things off with this Full Moon in Virgo because Neptune (the ruler of Pisces) is conjunct (0°) the Moon and is in opposition (180°) to the Sun (which becomes exact on Monday, August 31). Our intuitive abilities will be heightened during this time, so we need to be very aware of those inner nudges, hunches, gut-level feelings, and even messages received during our dream state. Our angels, guides, and deceased loved ones may find it easier than usual to get messages to us, but we need to be open to them and pay attention.
However, whenever Neptune is strongly aspected, as it is with the Full Moon, it is important to keep in mind the lower expression of this planet’s energy. Neptune is associated with the Roman God Neptune, which rules the sea. The sea can get foggy sometimes; and when our vision is blocked, our imagination can take over. Reality can be obscured. If this happens, we need to turn our journey over to God/Source/Spirit (the higher expression of Neptune’s energy) so we can be guided back to the shoreline, which may be just feet away yet we can’t see it. Also watch for Neptunian desires to escape from reality, especially through the use of alcohol or other drugs. Losing control through substances, although freeing in the short run, can lead to long-term consequences. And it’s not the best use of this highly intuitive, spiritual energy.
In addition to the Sun-Neptune opposition (see above) becoming exact on Monday, August 31, Venus will make its second of three conjunctions (0°) with Mars in Leo (the first was on February 21 and the last will be on November 2). This can help us channel our energy (Mars) into activities that bring personal fulfillment (Venus). We may feel ready to take the initiative to achieve more harmony in our lives. Social relationships and activities that create beauty are emphasized. This can be a time when passion and sensuality combine in wonderful ways within romantic relationships, but this energy can be very conducive to partnerships and teamwork of all kinds. Do be a little cautious though; this aspect can cause us to make impulsive purchases. Impulse buying today could lead to regrets tomorrow.
Saturday, September 5, ushers in energy that will help us get a lot accomplished due to a trine (120°) between the Sun and Pluto. This energy will influence us for a few days before and after the actual event. Over what is celebrated as the Labor Day weekend in the USA, many will suddenly feel motivated to deal with all those tasks that have been put off. We see it as a challenge, and we get down to clearing out the old to make room for the new in our lives. Leadership skills are strong, and we may connect with others with similar goals and interests. The brightness of the Sun may help us see clearly what needs to be done to heal deep issues (Pluto). It’s easier to get to the bottom of things, and we may be more decisive than usual.
On Sunday, September 6, Venus stops its retrograde motion (since July 25) and begins moving forward again in Leo. If we have done the inner work of Venus retrograde by resolving and releasing whatever is blocking our progress toward what we desire, the forward motion of Venus will likely help us see clearly what we need to do in order to bring greater joy and fulfillment into our lives. During the retrograde phase, we may have reexamined what we value, reconsidered a relationship, or reevaluated our finances. Some may have refocused on the beautification of our environment or appearance. In the coming days and weeks, as Venus picks up speed, we will want to implement our new understanding and create a life that we enjoy.
Two days later, on Tuesday, September 8, Mars will trine (180°) Uranus, which will provide energy, optimism, courage, and ingenuity. This positive, free-flowing, energetic aspect could help us recognize and apply alternative solutions to finding that greater joy and fulfillment mentioned above. With so much energy (Mars) positively impacting Uranus, which is the planet most associated with change, we may feel restless or impatient with the old and eager to take on the new. We may feel ready to be bold, assertive, and make ground-breaking changes in our lives.
However, the next day (Wednesday, September 9), Mercury will square (90°) Pluto, which could be a day of reckoning, perhaps due to the unexpected behavior of someone yesterday. Disagreements may erupt, and we may find that we (or those around us) are pessimistic, compulsive, and/or obsessive. Mountains can be made out of molehills today, and we may feel a need to regain control in our lives or someone might feel a need to assert their power over us. We all need to keep alert for the use of manipulative approaches, both on our part and the part of others, which are never helpful. This influence will only last for one day, but we need to keep our antennae up. The most positive use of this energy is to have deep, penetrating conversations, although everyone needs to stay alert to any efforts to push beliefs upon one another. Respect and patience are critical today.
Overall, this Full Moon in Pisces is ushering in a softer, gentler energy that will last for a couple of months. At the time of the Full Moon, it is important for us to look inward at what we know to be true for us, and we need to use our body, mind, and intuition to access information about this. Although the Sun is now in Virgo, we still have a lot of Leo energy around us. But the combination of Virgo and Leo energies could result in changes that are both grounded and detail-oriented (Virgo), as well as guided by love (Leo). We may feel more confident but also more humble as the Virgo energy combines with the Leo energy. So remember, “When we are aligned with love, the stars align with us” (Marianne Williamson).
