FULL MOON IN PISCES – After the August Eclipses, let’s get down to work (September 6, 2017)

Astrology-New-Moon-Full-MoonIn the Pacific Time Zone, the Moon will be full at 12:02 a.m. on Wednesday, September 6.  With this Full Moon, the Sun in Virgo will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Pisces.  To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 14° of Virgo and 14° of Pisces in your birth/natal chart.  The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.

As is true of all Full Moons, we are being challenged to find a balance between the qualities of the two signs involved.  This Full Moon has us dealing with the qualities of Virgo and Pisces.  Virgo is an earth sign with keywords such as practical, analytic, organized, humble, and physical health.  Pisces is a water sign associated with compassion, emotions, intuition, and our psychological health.  However, Full Moon’s often bring out the shadow or lower expressions of the signs, such as perfectionism and criticalness for Virgo and dependency and victimization for Pisces.

In order to find an effective balance between the highest qualities of these two signs, it will likely be important that there be an “interplay” between these two signs.  For example, our physical health will likely be related to our psychological health, and vice versa.  Or our practical activities may need to have a spiritual quality to them, and vice versa.  Luckily, the Pisces Full Moon provides us with practical guidance regarding how to find the right balance:  Whatever we choose to do, it will help if we focus on service (Virgo) to the collective (Pisces).  What will this look like?  A selfless approach to our activities will go far in alleviating the suffering in the world around us, both locally and globally.  We also need to do our part by approaching others with compassion, acceptance, and unconditional love (and ourselves, too!).

Neptune, the modern ruler of Pisces, has been in its home sign since 2011 and will be there until 2025.  Therefore, the qualities of Pisces are amped up in many of our lives and in society.  Although the impact of slow-moving Neptune in the sign of the fishes is often slow and gradual, it can also be very profound.  Overall, we are being asked to become more spiritually connected and to approach others (and ourselves) with compassion.  We also are being called upon to heal any issues involving feelings of powerlessness, victimization, dependency, addiction, and denial.  And remember, as we each individually heal these issues, we add to the well-being of the collective whole because we are all One.

Healing the illusion of separateness is of paramount importance during this time in humanity’s evolution as a species.  We have an opportunity to heal this issue at a deeper level during the time of the Full Moon because Neptune is in an exact conjunction (0°) to the Moon.  All the qualities of Neptune are magnified, such as compassion, spirituality, and moving from fear and into faith.  This also means that Neptune is in an exact opposition (180°) to the Sun, which could cause us to feel a little confused about what is happening.  But confusion isn’t always a sign that something is wrong.  It may just mean that things are changing, and we are being challenged to deepen our ability to “go with the flow.”

If we aren’t sure what shadow or inner parts of ourselves need to be healed, it may help to consider the world around us as a reflection of your inner world.  How are other’s treating us?  For example, if we are being treated like a doormat or being bullied, then we probably have an inner little child that needs to be allowed to own his or her power.  Or if those around us are emotional but we are always the one who is strong, then we probably have a vulnerable inner child crying out for self-care and self-compassion.  All of this healing takes time and is often aided by expert assistance, but healing is both possible and imperative!  Once our shadow side is identified, we need to approach it with loving compassion and with the goal of uniting us with any disowned parts of ourselves, just as humanity is being asked to integrate any disowned groups into the oneness of the human species.  But ultimately, it all begins with healing ourselves, and then we need to extend the same loving kindness to others.

During the Pisces Full Moon, the Sun is trine (120°) Pluto in grounded Capricorn, which means Pluto sextiles (60°) the Moon.  This supportive planetary configuration, which is called a wedge, will help us have the power we need to move ourselves in a positive direction and heal those inner shadows.  It may help to go out into nature and allow our Piscean nature to dream and envision for a little while.  Then, when we return to the “real world,” we will be ready to take concrete steps toward making those dreams a reality.  But with all the Virgo energy currently coming into our lives, we will do best to focus on taking small, practical steps that move us in the correct direction.

Actually, the day before the Pisces Full Moon (Tuesday, September 5) will mark the beginning of an important shift in energy, and the Full Moon will deepen its impact.  Two events happen on that September 5:

  • Mercury will end its retrograde phase and begin moving direct again. With Mercury moving direct, we are done with the reviewing phase and are ready to move forward.  We are ready to listen to others, and the Piscean energy will help us listen compassionately and without judgment.  This will also help us think through what has recently transpired and find a way to put it all into a context of some kind.  Talking to caring, compassionate others will likely be beneficial.  So, too, will activities such as journaling, reflecting, or anything that requires thought or communication with self or others.  In the coming days, more information may come to us that will help us sort out what just happened and how we can constructively use the changes we have experienced.  This is further supported by Saturn’s recent resumption of its direct motion (Friday, August 25).
  • Mars moves out of Leo and into earthy, practical Virgo, where it will remain until October 23. Mars in Virgo will settle down all of this volatile, dramatic Leo energy that has been swirling around us.  For the next 6 weeks, we will shift our attention away from the forest and focus, instead, on the trees.  And it’s very likely that we will see that those trees need some adjustments because when Mars is in Virgo, we are being called to get to work!  We are ready to dive in, and we will want whatever we accomplish to be of high quality.  It is very likely that getting things done will feel GREAT!

So, starting around the 5th of September, a calmer, more peaceful energy will take over. This shift in focus from Leo energy to Virgo energy will be present for the entire month of September.  As we all know, during the last two months, we have all been under the strong influence of a lot of dramatic Leo energy, including the Eclipse season in August.  The powerful, fiery Leo energy that has been swirling around us (and sometimes within us) has been draining and oftentimes confusing.  A dose of Piscean compassion will go a long way toward healing, but so, too, will be a shift toward getting down to work.

On Tuesday, September 12, a supportive trine (120°) between Venus and Saturn will help us draw what we need into our lives in order to create firm foundations.  This aspect will also help us identify those relationships that will provide responsible, loving support as we move forward toward our goals.  A recent new relationship may begin to stabilize and mature into something that provides very realistic support.  This may also be a time when we take a serious look at our finances and make some important decisions.  Forward motion is very possible, but progress is likely slow and gradual.

Wednesday, September 13 may feel heavier than yesterday due to a square (90°) between the Sun and Saturn.  It is likely we will be given a dose of reality in the form of obstacles.  These challenges are not designed to discourage us but, instead, to help us see what additional tools are needed to successfully reach our goals.  This aspect may not be a happy influence, but if we work with it, we can see an increase in our confidence, which will support us in being successful in the long-run.

Then on Friday, September 15, a sweet sextile (60°) between Venus and Jupiter will further help us in developing those relationships that we need in order to attain our goals.  We may also have financial options come our way that will help us move forward with our endeavors.  However, Jupiter is all about expansion at all costs, so it can be a bit blind at times.  It prefers to move forward and ignore warning signs.  Therefore, it may be best to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground today and wait a day or two before agreeing to anything or signing any documents.

Overall, this Pisces New Moon is bringing us all an opportunity to settle down, sort out what has just happened, and integrate whatever changes are worth keeping!  Over the next few weeks, a great deal of Virgo energy will be coming into our lives, so we will all feel ready to buckle down and get to work.  This forward progress will feel great, and our productivity will likely assist in the healing of our bodies, minds, and spirits in this post-Leo energy time period.  Sometimes the best thing we can do for ourselves is to stop thinking so much and start doing, and the Virgo energy says that the best way to do this is in humble service to others.  Additionally, with all the Piscean and Neptunian energy around the Full Moon, we also need to bring boatloads of compassion and tap into our emotions and intuition to guide that boat.  So remember, “Until mankind can extend the circle of his compassion to include all living things, he will never, himself, know peace” (Albert Schweitzer).
