In the Pacific Time Zone, the Moon will be full at 9:18 a.m. on Tuesday, June 2. With this Full Moon, the Sun in Gemini will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Sagittarius. To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 12° of Gemini and 12° of Sagittarius in your birth/natal chart. The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.
Full Moons bring light that illuminates the areas of our lives where we may not have been able to see clearly before, often in topics associated with the signs involved. This time, those signs are Gemini and Sagittarius. Both are interested in information, but the use of the information differs. Whereas Gemini is interested in basic information, Sag is focused on higher level thinking and processing. With Gemini, we are seeking, learning, and sharing information. With Sagittarius, we want to apply the information that we have gathered to determine what is true and real for us. And as is true with all Full Moons, our goal is to give attention to both ends of this continuum; neither should be ignored and both need attention.
NOTE: Because Mercury is currently in retrograde and Mercury is the ruler of Gemini, the information that we gather around the time of the Full Moon may not be easily shared with the rest of the world. For now, all this wonderful information will be used to review, reassess, reevaluate, revamp, etc. (all the re- words).
However, when interpreting this Full Moon, it is important to pay attention to the planet Neptune, which is even more powerful because it’s located in the sign it rules (i.e., Pisces). Neptune is squaring (90°) both the Moon and the Sun, which forms a right triangle in the sky above us. This t-square configuration, though, is even more potent because the Sun is also conjunct (0°) both Mercury and Mars. With the Sun, Mercury and Mars all in Gemini and with the Moon in Sagittarius, this is a lot of mental energy. Neptune brings in a much different viewpoint to the party because it is the planet most associated with spirituality. While Gemini and Sag are very linear thinkers, Neptune is exceedingly nonlinear. The type of intelligence that Neptune values is often referred to as the 6th sense. We are being asked to find a better balance between our head and heart, between our logic and intuition, and between our rational mind and those things that cannot be easily explained.
Adding weight to this t-square configuration is the fact that Neptune squares (90°) Saturn. This helps us take this Full Moon seriously and not ignore the important lessons being presented to us. At times, Neptune can cause things to be unclear and foggy, but the presence of responsible Saturn will hopefully serve as a lighthouse beacon that helps us cut through the fog and see clearly. This can include integrating all the lessons we have been learning during all of these recent Uranus-Pluto squares and finding a way to bring our new understanding onto the Earth plane by building responsible and compassionate structures that blend both the mind and spirit. And with Pluto, the planet of transformation, inconjunct (150°) Mars during this Full Moon, effective action during this time will need to include verbs like adjust, compromise, and accept.
On Friday, June 5, Venus moves out of Cancer and into Leo. Both Venus and Leo focus on love, and love may feel particularly magnificent now, even if we do seem stuck in the romantic phase. We may feel more generous and warmhearted than usual. We do need to be careful, though, not to be overly needy in terms of attention or admiration. Also, we may have a tendency to say boastful or egotistical things. The best use of this energy is to speak from our hearts and focus on loving others.
The same day (Friday, June 5), Mars is sextile (60°) Jupiter. This sweet aspect is helpful for the beginning of new things. Decisions will likely come easily. We will have energy, energy, energy, which will often be directed toward improving our lives in some way. Just be careful not to take on too many challenges or expand too rapidly. Later that evening, Venus trines (120°) Saturn, which may help us be sure that the love we have been feeling all day (see last paragraph) is responsible and mature. It can also aid in all forms of partnership, including business, due to our willingness to take our responsibilities and commitments seriously.
The weekend of June 6-7 sees all planets in either fire or air signs. This will likely make for days filled with socializing and activities of all kinds. Our interactions with others should be light-hearted and easy-going. Even though our energies could be a bit scattered, conversations should be interesting, and learning something new will bring great joy.
Monday, June 8, sees an exact sextile (60°) between the Sun and Jupiter. This can allow us to more easily express who we really are in the world, gain a stronger sense of our principles, and see possibilities where none seemed to exist before. There’s a sense of hopefulness and good will with this transit that will translate into wanting to improve our lives and the lives of others. We may feel more sociable, tolerant, and generous. We might even receive help from others in the form of recognition, gifts, or rewards.
Right before Mercury begins moving direct again, it makes a quick sextile (60°) with Venus on Wednesday, June 10. This continues the “positive social train” of the last few days. It may feel like our communication has been sprinkled with fairy dust, and we may find ourselves more interested than usual in news and travel. This aspect favors diplomacy, teaching, business deals, publishing, and all forms of social interactions and partnerships.
On Thursday, June 11, Mercury begins to move direct again. It may take a few days before communication smoothes out, but all that inner thought work can now begin to be expressed and acted on externally. The same day, Mars is squaring (90°) the asteroid Chiron. I usually describe squares as “a burr under the saddle.” They often demand a change in direction and are seldom comfortable. With this square, Mars, the planet of action, is demanding change from the asteroid that involves self-healing. Therefore, some of us may feel like our unhealed inner child is being shoved out of the shadows and into a harsh spotlight. Keep in mind that we often cannot heal until we recognize there’s a problem. So this process may be painful, but it is helpful.
The next day (Friday, June 12), Neptune begins its annual retrograde period, which will last until November 18. During this time, we will see our sensitivity and intuitive abilities increase, sometimes dramatically. Although the energy of Neptune in retrograde is subtle, many of us will feel things more acutely, and it’s important to work on deeper emotional issues because they will be harder to access once Neptune turns direct again. We need to listen to our “inner voice” and talk with like-minded, supportive others about what we are sensing and feeling. The support of others is more important now than at other times because the heightened sensitivity can be a blessing and a curse; so we need to be around compassionate others. During this 5-month period, it’s especially important to avoid harsh chemicals, stimulants, addictions, and people who drain us of energy.
On Sunday, June 14, two important astrological events occur:
- A conjunct (0°) between the Sun and Mars is exact today; however, we may feel the impact of this powerful aspect for several days before and after the actual event. We may be asked to do some inner healing involving issues of competitiveness and how we deal with anger. This is one of the most courageous times of year for each of us, and we will have more than enough energy at our disposal to conquer just about anything. Many of us will feel ready to take action, often with a great deal of enthusiasm. The best way to effectively use the energy of this transit is to tackle projects that will require a lot of drive and stamina.
- Retrograde Saturn moves out of Sagittarius and back into the sign of Scorpio. After having Saturn in the lighter energy of Sagittarius for the last six 6 months, the return to the heavier sign of Scorpio may feel to some of us like a test. Did we get the lesson when Saturn was last in this sign? Topics may include intimacy, death and transformation, the use of power, money and resources, and our core wounds? Is there more emotional healing that we need to do or pain that needs to be released in order to free up the power that we need to be the emotional authority in our own lives? Until Saturn moves back into Sag in September, powerful emotions may come up to be healed, all of which are designed to help us rise to a new level of spiritual consciousness.
Overall, this Full Moon in Sagittarius and the two weeks thereafter are positive. We are being asked to make sure we have a good balance between our minds and our hearts. Meditation, spending time with spiritual friends, and being out in nature are all good ways to make sure you are giving attention to both the lower and higher selves and to both the ego and the soul. Several aspects during this time support our spiritual and intuitive development, which is an influence that will continue for much of the summer (winter in the Southern Hemisphere). Social interactions will be light-hearted, but we may have to step outside our comfort zone and experience levels of awareness and intuitive abilities that we have not yet tapped into. However, the quest for information that is associated with Gemini and the drive for adventurousness that is associated with Sag will support us on our travels into unknown territories. And remember that you don’t always need to be able to provide rational explanations to your decisions because, “Intuition is knowing without knowing how you know” (Unknown).
