FULL MOON IN SAGITTARIUS – Time to become your own inner authority (May 29, 2018)

Astrology-New-Moon-Full-MoonThank you, one and all, for your patience, understanding, and support while I’ve taken this hiatus to deal with my father’s estate.  My time is still very limited; consequently, my Moon Updates will have to be briefer than usual.  But I will do my best to keep everyone informed about any important astrological events.

In the Pacific Time Zone, the Moon will be full at 7:19 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29.  With this Full Moon, the Sun in Gemini will be in opposition (180°) to the Moon in Sagittarius.  To further clarify how this Full Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 9° of Gemini and 9° of Sagittarius in your birth/natal chart.  The issues associated with those two houses are going to be most impacted by this Full Moon’s presence.

All Full Moons require us to find a balance between the qualities of the two signs involved.  With this one, those two signs are fiery Sagittarius and airy Gemini.  Both signs are information seekers, but where Gemini is interested in basic, factual information, Sag focuses on sifting through all that data to find the “truth.”  Both are important:  We need to keep learning and filling our minds, but we also need to use inner wisdom to sort out what is “right” and “true” for each of us.  Without accurate information (Gemini), any conclusions that are reached (Sag) may be flawed.

Finding balance between these two signs will be easier right now because the Moon in Sagittarius is in two free-flowing trines (120°) to Chiron in Aries and the North Node in Leo.  This forms a configuration called a fire grand trine (i.e., a right triangle in the sky above us).  This grand trine provides readily-available fiery energy!  We will want to move forward, and we can more easily burn away any untruths to find the special prize hidden inside the box of Cracker Jacks.  And because Chiron is involved, finding that hidden present could lead to important healing.  The grand trine supports us in being courageous (Aries), but we must also make sure that we are coming from a place that is both loving (Leo) and that acknowledges that we have lessons to learn (North Node) and issues to heal (Chiron).

Additionally, we will likely have access to the wisdom we need to sort out any emotions because there is a second grand trine present at the time of the Sag Moon.  This grand trine has Jupiter in Scorpio trine (120°) Neptune in Pisces, and both are trine (120°) Venus in Cancer.  Therefore, this is a water grand trine.  Emotions will likely be flowing easily (water), especially with Venus (love) in the ultimate “Ma-ma” energy of Cancer.  The trine (120°) between Jupiter and Neptune is actually the second in a series of three trines between these two outer planets (i.e., the other two occurring on December 2, 2017 & August 19, 2018).  This aspect brings an optimistic energy that can even provide us with a new spiritual understanding.  We may feel renewed hope in the face of difficult life circumstances.  It is also possible now to release old emotional wounds, both from our past and even from past lives.  But because Jupiter is retrograde in Scorpio, this is likely a time when we will be facing those parts of ourselves that are hidden in the shadows and that we’d like to ignore.  The presence of psychological, intuitive Neptune will help us dive deep to find the answer in our psyches.  This may involve facing our fears (Neptune) and/or changing our belief systems (Jupiter).  We will benefit from anything that helps us tune into our emotions and psychological issues (e.g., counseling, journaling, resting, meditating, dream work).

Saturn in Capricorn is the focal planet of another configuration called a Yod, which is also known as The Finger of God or The Finger of Fate.  Saturn is inconjunct (150°) both the Sun in Gemini and the North Node in Leo, and the Sun and the North Node are in a sextile (60°).  Saturn is in its home sign of Capricorn right now, so it’s very powerful.  But it’s also currently in retrograde, so we are being asked to look inward to find our own stability and security.  The two inconjuncts are telling us that we can’t look to external sources of authority right now. We need to determine for ourselves what is right or wrong, regardless of what others may think or expect.  It is also likely that it’s time to step up and take responsibility for something in our lives.  Yods always indicate potential moments of great growth, but only through adjustments and compromise.  Luckily, Saturn (the focal point of the Yod) is in opposition (180°) to Venus.  This shows that the “way out” is through love, sensual activities, and seeking what we enjoy or desire.

Also, both Saturn and Venus are squaring (90°) Chiron, forming a T-square (i.e., a right triangle).  Chiron is the focal point of the T-square, which means that facing whatever wounds need to be healed will help us find a better balance between our responsibilities (Saturn) and seeking what we love (Venus).

On the same day of the Sag Full Moon (Tuesday, May 29), Mercury moves out of earthy Taurus and into its home sign of Gemini, where it will remain until June 13.  Mercury LOVES being in Gemini!  Our minds will become very active and curious.  We want to learn, learn, learn!  However, Merc in Gemini means we are often happier learning just the basics, and we don’t want to delve too deeply into any topic.  After all, there’s so many other interesting things to learn about!  The only downside of this placement is that we can be mentally distracted, which makes it hard to focus and can cause us to miss important details.  But our ease in communicating while Mercury is in Gemini and our increased social skills will usually cover up any social faux pas.

Overall, this Sagittarius Full Moon is all about new levels of healing, and there is a great deal of support for us to dig deep and do the work due to the presence of not one but two grand trines!  Because several of the planets involved are in retrograde, it is likely that much of our exploration and healing will occur through inner reflection.  This will eventually lead to external action, but we should use the supportive energy around the time of the Sagittarius Full Moon to reflect and make sure we are going where we want to go and doing what we want to go.  We need to become our own inner authority.  In addition to healing, we may also experience a big leap forward in our spiritual understanding.  Wisdom is our goal, and part of that involves knowing when to take action and when it is best to trust and surrender.  The decision about which of those paths to take involves learning to trust our own inner guidance system, and that’s what this Sag Full Moon is all about.
