This month’s New Moon, which is at its peak on Sunday, May 20, finds both the Moon and Sun in conjunction (0°) at 1° of Gemini. To further clarify how this New Moon will impact you on a personal level, locate 1° of Gemini in your birth/natal chart. The issues associated with that house are going to be the most affected by this New Moon’s presence.
Perhaps the most important thing to mention about this New Moon is that it’s the first of a series of New and Full Moons that will pack a powerful wallop! For example, this New Moon in Gemini is also a Solar Eclipse, which I will discuss shortly. Additionally . . .
- The Full Moon in Sagittarius on Monday, June 4 is a Lunar Eclipse. Both Solar and Lunar Eclipses mark times in our lives when major changes occur. And the Full Moon on June 4 occurs the day before the rare Venus transit of the Sun on Tuesday, June 5, which will put a very bright (and for some people an uncomfortable) spotlight on “all things Venusian” including what you love and what you value.
- And then the New Moon on Tuesday, June 19 is another New Moon in Gemini, which is a rare occurrence. It is as if the Universe is saying “Listen, the stuff we talked about during the last New Moon and Solar Eclipse is important, so pay attention!” This second New Moon in Gemini also happens during a very powerful point in history. It occurs (a) just before the solstice on Wednesday, June 20, which is thought to be a very important point in humanity’s history and (b) just before the first of seven exact squares (90°) between the planet of revolution and awakenings Uranus and the planet of deep transformational forces Pluto on Sunday, June 24.
Add to all of this the fact that several planets change directions and change signs over the next few months and . . . well . . . strap yourselves in . . . it’s going to be quite a ride!
But back to this New Moon in Gemini. As always, New Moons represent times when we can start a new emotional cycle and/or have an opportunity to reset our goals and intentions. Gemini is the sign of the mind, communication, and learning. It is a social sign, which often means that we feel a strong need to learn in the presence of others and/or to gather information and then communicate what we have learned to others.
But was mentioned above, this New Moon in Gemini is also a Solar Eclipse. This makes for an extra powerful New Moon. Solar Eclipses occur close to the same degree (i.e., this one is 1° of Gemini) every 19 years. Try to think back to May 21, 1993. It is likely that something you began around that time is being completed now or is needing to spiral to the next level. So even though New Moons often represent periods of new starts, this particular New Moon will require us to look backward before we can move forward. It will remind us of what we left behind that was of value; and through reflection, we may find that there is something of value that we need to recover before we can advance.
With this New Moon in Gemini and Solar Eclipse, we are all being asked to look carefully at our beliefs and how we communicate. Many are finding that we are living in a very special time. It feels almost magical at times because what we think is what we manifest . . . and often it manifests very quickly. The titles of books like “Ask & It Is Given” by Abraham-Hicks and “You’ll See It When You Believe It” by Wayne Dyer are powerful reminders of what is possible right now.
However, learning how to harness this manifesting power means learning how to think positively. This is a skill, and one that is not supported by the majority of society. But this New Moon and Solar Eclipse provides all of us with amazing support to make profound changes in our “mental hygiene.” Now is a wonderful time to take charge of your reality by becoming aware of the thoughts running through your mind and the words that you speak. The trick is to focus on what you do want and not on what you don’t want. Why? Because the Universe doesn’t understand the word “not,” so what you put your focus on is what you will manifest.
NOTE: It is important that you learn how to control and direct your mind. This often takes practice and receiving support from coaches and colleagues of “like mind.” For those in the Southern California area, this would be the perfect time to join IMPART’s weekly class Mastering the Law of Attraction Processes, which begins on Wednesday, June 6.
Neptune in Pisces is squaring (90°) this New Moon, which can cause ideas and thoughts to be a bit foggy or unrealistic at times. For those who aren’t consciously aware of its presence, Neptune’s energy can also cause us to become lost in the world of illusions or to become overwhelmed by worry and/or doubt. But the higher expression of Neptune’s presence is imagination and self-forgiveness. It also encourages us to develop and utilize all forms of intelligence. Although the Western World often defines intelligence by the written or spoken word, the presence of Neptune reminds us that the use of intuition is also a valuable source of wisdom.
Luckily, Jupiter in Taurus is loosely conjunct (0°) this New Moon in Gemini. This will help many of us to open our eyes to the broader perspectives and remind us that down-to-earth knowledge and solutions are sources of power. Therefore, Jupiter in Taurus will help us to separate the wheat from the chaff when it comes to those Neptunian ideas that come to us during this time. And the day after this New Moon (Monday, May 21), Mercury conjuncts (0°) the Sun, which will expand our consciousness even more and provide use with many practical ideas.
Just a reminder that several days before this New Moon (on Tuesday, May 15), Venus began its 6-week retrograde period (ending on Wednesday, June 27). Venus retrograde is usually experienced subtly by most people, although it is a powerful and important time. We are being asked to turn inward to explore what we value in various aspects of our lives. It can slow down romantic progress, but that’s because we need to look at our buried feelings and address intimacy issues. This evaluation period will either cause relationships to break down or it will strengthen relationships that are already strong. And given this is occurring in Gemini, there will likely be a lot of communication occurring within all types of partnership, not just the romantic kind. We will all be explore new ways to get our needs met in the areas of self-worth, art, pleasure, money, and partnering.
Then on Thursday, May 24, Mercury moves into its airy home sign of Gemini. One benefit of this shift is mental flexibility; it can suggest options that were not apparent even the day before. However, for those who prefer concrete answers and aren’t comfortable with change, the fluctuations in thought and perception that come with Mercury in Gemini can cause feelings of insecurity, uncertainty, and even anxiety. Do your best to work with the Gemini energy by being adaptable and open to rapidly changing moods and circumstances. This will open your heart and mind to alternative ways of dealing with life.
Overall, this New Moon in Gemini and Solar Eclipse are giving all of us a chance to reexamine how we think and how we speak so we can consciously create the reality that we want (rather than unconsciously creating a reality that we don’t want). And because another New Moon in Gemini occurs in 4 weeks, you don’t need to make all the changes overnight. Take this month to analyze your thoughts and words. And given the social-ness of Gemini, it’s an excellent time to reach out for support if you need help in becoming (or remembering how to be) a more positive thinker. This shift will reap amazing rewards. And as Henry David Thoreau so wisely said, “Thought is the sculptor who can create the person you want to be.”
